At Middleton International School, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded learners who develop not only academic knowledge but also character, creativity, confidence and a strong sense of community. Through student-led platforms such as the Middleton Newsletter Team, our students are encouraged to share their voices, work collaboratively and contribute meaningfully to school life.

As part of our student-led newsletter series, the Newsletter Team of 2026 shares ideas that reflect the interests, experiences and perspectives of our students. In this feature, the team presents a few affordable summer experiences in Singapore for families to enjoy together during the school holidays.
It’s going to be a hot and exciting summer, full of amazing moments to share with friends and family! To help the Middleton community enjoy a great holiday without spending too much money, the Newsletter Team has decided to present some of the best affordable experiences available in Singapore.
Gardens by the Bay

Perfect for families and nature lovers, Gardens by the Bay features themed garden trails, interactive displays and colourful photo spots. Students can also learn more about plants and sustainability while enjoying the cool indoor conservatories and outdoor gardens.
For younger children, this can be a chance to observe different plant shapes, colours and habitats. For teenagers, the visit can spark conversations about biodiversity, climate awareness, urban greening and how cities like Singapore balance nature with modern living.
Wild Wild Wet

Located in Downtown East, this popular water park offers exciting slides, wave pools and relaxing lazy rivers suitable for both teenagers and younger children. It is a budget-friendly option for families looking to stay active and cool during the school holidays.
Beyond the fun, children and teens can learn about water confidence, personal safety and making responsible choices in shared public spaces. Actions like queuing, following safety instructions and looking out for one another also encourage patience, teamwork and consideration for others.
Outdoor Movie Night - Sentosa

Families can unwind by watching outdoor movie screenings near the beach under the night sky. Bring a picnic mat, enjoy the sea breeze and spend quality time together after a busy day out.
An outdoor movie night can also be a simple way for children and teens to think about storytelling, characters, emotions and different perspectives. Families can continue the learning afterwards by discussing the film, sharing favourite moments or reflecting on the message behind the story.
We hope you enjoy your summer and discover that pools, ice cream and cold drinks are only the beginning of all the experiences Singapore has to offer! Although the seasons in Singapore barely change, let’s still enjoy this summer holiday with friends and family, since it’s a long break from schoolwork.
